It does a better job of capturing the essences of pretty much the whole Justice League one by one than most of their solo books do: Batman, Superman, Flash, Black Canary, and Green Arrow all get amazing moments. e stand at the end of a decade of massive change, and the comics industry is not immune to those shifts. I know, Star Wars comics have always been a mixed bag. I’m constantly looking for something I’ve never seen before. But Russell plays it like a heist movie, having the duo outsmarting their opponents, and infusing it with some sharp populist satire that plays really well right now (for me, at least). Walden’s loose, expressive, confident line art style weaves through the color fields, and her penchant for architecture is reborn as surreal, breathtaking road trip landscapes. That’s a shame, because while Lottie’s shame about her allergies is central to the plot, the secret to Snotgirl is how much more disgusted readers should be by everything else surrounding her life.
